Time for the PPPP wrap-up report!

Hay Polyburners,

This was the first time our 25' geodesic dome has seen the playa after being built for our theme camp, Tranquility Bay, several years ago.  We are happy to see it being used in Poly Paradise and will make it  available for future years to come.

The reasons behind creating a Perfect Place for Poly Play using a geodesic dome were twofold; One, the PPPP tent was slated to be used as living quarters this year by a member of Scotto's family; Two, we saw the limited space a tent offers created a sense of exclusion,  rather than inclusion. We wanted the space to be open and inviting to all and reduce that feeling of exclusivity. We also wanted a space that could be used for community events that require privacy and  separation from our community space.

A month before the Burn I created a rooftop platform, then just before Scotto's truck loadup, I drove it out to his place in Arizona and had a wonderful hour re-connecting with Ginny and Scotto! (It turned out to be a longer drive then it was to Burning Man by 200 miles!)

On-playa, setup went smoothly with help from several people and a timely donation of a parachute from BrotherLuv. (Thanks!) Scotto provided carpet for the floor and we filled in the walls with sheets and cloth. Keith worked with me finishing the safety rails and ladder.

I was happy to see PolyDome in use the entire week, right up to and during disassembly! For those who climbed to platform level, they found the view was spectacular! One of this year's highlights was watching the Burn from platform level with two new friends then spending the entire night all snuggled together.

We had a bit of difficulty with the winds that made keeping the space clean and neat, but all in all, it was a very usable place.

We had to break things down on Sunday because of exit issues and thanks to all who helped with the work, especially Scotto for packing it all into the truck and hauling it back to Phoenix.

On to plans for next year...

In addition to the 45' parachute Brother Luv donated, I have been gifted a used, but still serviceable 65' parachute courtesy my benevolent employer, Ed. We are planning on new flooring material and you will see more flowing cloth and tapestries adorning the walls too. The effect we are shooting for will be a strong feeling of sanctuary and peace. Up high, we are planning on a rocking bacon, er, beacon!

We are planning several organized events during the week that will make use of PolyDome and Hypno has indicated a need for a quieter area for his use. These community events will be scheduled in advance, have limited run times and have exclusive use of the dome. Because of this, we have to ask people to hold off installing anything that eats up too much floor space. We welcome pillows, blankets, throws and inflatable beds and encourage everyone to participate.

We welcome suggestions and are looking for someone to help with that flooring I mentioned earlier.

Hugs, Tailfeather and Sundancer
