When, where and why did you decide on attending?
My inspiration to go to Burning Man didn't come all at once. I knew various people who attended since the earliest years. I went with some friends in 1995. It was different then, and I was there for only two and a half days. In 2006 my brother had an extra ticket. The two of us and our mother camped together. Maybe I had assumed that the quality of the Playa experience degraded as the BRC population grew during the years I missed. Wrong. In 2006 I experienced the bigger! better! Burning Man, and have become a "repeat customer," as it were. I joined PolyParadise in 2007 upon the recommendation of a longtime friend who happens to know Yonderman.
Volunteer on the Playa?
Last year I helped with the HCW, with trash removal after camp was taken down, and some kitchen detail.
What would you like to experience at Burning Man in 2008?
Closer connection to the community, to build upon friendships started last year. More sunrises: the magnificent light of the early morning. The unexpected. To fully experience the beauty of what is, unburdened by concern about the unfulfilled.
